We cannot stand to be told when we are wrong. We point back at the other person to avoid facing the truth about ourselves. Why is that? We look at the faults of the one that is telling us right to somehow take the spotlight off of our own mess. We wonder why we are not growing up in Christ. The difference here is that God who chastened the ones He calls His own has the right to correct our wrong. He has the right to send people our way that mean us no harm to give us His instructions. Don’t be so quick to dismiss someone telling you right jus because they got issues. The importance is that you find out and correct so you can get all God has for you.

For our earthly fathers disciplined us for a few years, doing the best they knew how. But God’s discipline is always good for us, so that we might share in his holiness. No discipline is enjoyable while it is happening—it’s painful! But afterward there will be a peaceful harvest of right living for those who are trained in this way.
